A freshwater fish farming environmental code of practice (Industry Environmental Code of Best Practise for Freshwater Finfish Aquaculture) was prepared for, and endorsed by, the Aquaculture Association of Queensland, a freshwater fish farmers association representing silver perch, freshwater hatcheries and ornamental fish producers in Queensland. This document has not been endorsed by the ABFA. However, it is important that the ABFA develops environmental codes that reflect the various culture systems currently in use across the industry. The environmental code of practice provided here is considered to be a good starting point for the development of a farmed barramundi industry code and the Association through the executive would welcome membership and stakeholder comment on the attached code and its suitability to the farmed barramundi industry.
