Marketing
Increasingly, the ABFA is becoming involved in marketing and promotional activities for the industry. At this years AGM a substantial proportion of Association funds were allocated to a marketing and promotions campaign. November is Farmed Barramundi Month, there will be a number of events and activities centering on Australia's capitol cities. Further promotional activities are planned for the next 12 months with the aim of raising awareness and demand for farmed Barramundi. The recent focus by the Association on marketing is a direct result of concerns raised by industry members. A farmed barramundi marketing workshop was held in May 2001 to determine the issues and options for the industry. A situational analysis was prepared for the participants of the workshop. (Situation Analysis of Farmed Barramundi Marketing) The findings of the workshop (Farmed Barramundi Marketing Workshop) were then presented to the Annual General Meeting in August to obtain further input from Association membership and to isolate funding for the promotional campaign. Ruello & Associates have been commissioned to coordinate the marketing activities. There will be regular reports on the progress of the campaign in the barramundi Bulletin. Situation
