Territory Clean Sweeps the Barra Medals - 02/09/2005Australian Barramundi Farmers Association President Neil Hallagan applauded the two Northern Territory barramundi producers who were winners of medals at the Sydney Royal Fine Food show. “This demonstrates the fabulous quality of Australian farmed Barramundi, and for this season at least, the special quality of farmed Barramundi from the Northern Territory”, Mr Hallagan said from Queensland. “Barramundi provides is a world class eating experience. Australian Barramundi is as good as it gets and the medals won at Australia’s most prestigious wine and food show reinforce what people in tropical Australia have known for years: Barramundi is Australia’s premium fish”, he said. The medal in the Barramundi (plate size) was won by: Marine Harvest Australia from Tiwi in the Northern Territory, The medal for the Barramundi (fillets) was won by Humpty Doo Barramundi in the Northern Territory near Darwin. Mr Hallagan said that entries were received from producers in NSW as well as Queensland and the Northern Territory which Mr Hallagan said showed that the appreciation of Australia’s iconic fish was definitely spreading to the southern states.
